Harmeny v Corstorphine XC
Harmeny v Corstorphine XC This is our annual friendly match at Curriemuirend park. (This is the parkland just left of Westerhailes Road before Clovenstone Roundabout if you are coming from Juniper Green direction). https://goo.gl/maps/Tf1U2hKretz I would recommend coming along at 11:15am to get your race number and familiarise yourself with the course. Races start at 12.00pm. Spikes or trainers with good grip are recommended, as well as some warm clothes for afterwards. U11's course is approx. 1.6km, U13 approx. 2.4km, U15-17 approx. 3.2km. This is an ideal event for new members to try out cross country and is open to all junior members, people currently on the Harmeny waiting list and siblings so please come along and show your support. I am also informed someone important will be along to hand out the trophies! I wonder who?

More Gold for Bob at Scottish Masters T&F Championships
Aberdeen, Sat 2 July, Scottish Masters T&F Championships: Another sprint treble for Bob Douglas. 100m (13.67), 200m (27.77) & 400m (62.65). This event marked the 6th consecutive sprint treble at Scottish & NI Masters, and 20th consecutive domestic sprint Gold since finishing 2nd in 100m in 2014. Bob also achieved 8m 52 in SP for Gold, but was just over a metre short of medal standard in discus (28.44).
U12 Superteams
The club has always been a keen supporter of this competition. However, this year it was just a little bit further away in Ayr but we still managed to take 1 girls’ team and 1 boys’ team this year, both doing remarkably well in the only National Competition for this age group. The boys team managed to pick up the bronze medal, emulating the success of the girls’ team from last year. Amazing that our little club should pick up National medals 2 years on the trot. Well done to Murray Fraser, Theo Johnstone, Finlay Ross and Luke Rankin. Medals are on their way boys!
Forth Valley League – League and 3 Trophies for Harmeny AC
This is our main competition of the track and field season and we were fantastically represented with around 51 of our 66 eligible athletes competing in at least one match. And I’m delighted to say that the representation and the quality of our performances mean we strolled to the Division 3 championship, winning all 3 trophies available – track, field and overall. The trophies will be presented to us after the President’s Select Match in August and every athlete who took part will get a champion’s medal in the new term. All the results can be found here: http://www.forthvalleyleague.org.uk/theresults/ . Many, many thanks to Jon Waters for being an absolutely superb team manager this year. And also many thanks to all the parents for bringing the kids along (it can be a long day) and, it has to be said, supporting the kids wholeheartedly –

Some fantastic performances, especially from a number of athletes making their competitive debuts and clean sweep in the boys relay events, gave the club a commanding 33 point lead over Edinburgh AC B. Bronze for Calum
Some more superb performances by Harmeny Under15 Calum McFadzean at Scottish National Indoor Championships last week. Bronze in 60m: 7.71s (7.74 in SF; 7.78 in Qualifying round) 4th in Long jump: 5m 36cm (a mere 3cm short of a second bronze medal) And he just missed the Final in 200m: 25.91 in Semi final. Each run was inside Calum's personal best and the club indoor records he set in January, and was a huge pb and record in Long jump. Fantastic indoor season for Calum and bodes well for the imminent outdoor season which starts straight after Easter.

Boxing Day Social Run
What a club! Jonathan and I came up this morning not expecting to see anyone daft enough to go out in the heavy rain. 34 club runners.... Photographer should be sacked... Sorry about lack of focus. Norma Bone
7R Trail Half Marathon
What an amazing day we had for this years 7R. Weather conditions were perfect, blue sky, slight breeze and most importantly sunshine. We had to have a wee detour near the start of the race due to the extreme water feature!!!. Underfoot conditions were wet wet wet in places with the usual bits of mud crossing Phantoms Cleugh. 97 hardy souls started the race with only 1 person withdrawing. The race this year was won by the returning 2014 winner Dessie Flanagan in a great time of 1 hour 24 mins 56 secs, in 2nd place not far behind was David Fulton returning to do the 7R for the first time since he won the inaugural race in 2012. Result as follows. 1st Dessie Flanagan (unattached) 1:24:56 2nd David Fulton (HBT) 1:25:32 3rd Nigel Skelton (Carnethy) 1:29:31 1st female was Lucy Colquhoun (unattached) 1:39:58 Hope
