Harmeny AC are launching a new Couch-2-5k course with our JogScotland-qualified coaches. The course will take place from Saughton Sports Centre at 5.40pm on a Thursday evening and will kick off win the new yea ron 8th January. The course is completely free of charge! Craig Stewart – Inspiring Volunteer Award 2024
Congratulations to Craig Stewart! We are excited to announce that Craig Stewart has been awarded an individual award at the Inspiring Volunteer Awards 2024! Craig joined Harmeny Athletics Club in 2011 and started coaching in 2012. His hard work and passion have helped our club grow and succeed. Craig achieved his UK coaching level 3 and took on many roles within the club. Under his leadership, Harmeny AC won Impact Club of the Year in 2019 and 2021. Craig's enthusiasm and dedication have been key in keeping our junior members engaged and getting more volunteers involved. His energy and hard work are a big part of our club's success. Join us in celebrating Craig's amazing achievement and thanking him for all he does for Harmeny AC!

Future Stars, Event 2 Results
Many thanks to all those who attended the 2nd in our Future Stars Event Series, aimed at introducing young athletes to competition. We had 57 athletes attend, which was 6 up on last time and we had 18 first timers!! Of those attending for their 2nd event, there were 22 Event PBs on long jump, so well done to Adam, Naela, Luke, Emily, Marie, Zoe C, Samuel, Zoe H, Eloise, Eilidh, Leo, Harry, Ellera, Isla, Phoebe, Ailsa, Ben, Orla, Lavann, Douglas, Christopher and Fraser - Congrats!! If you want to know all of your results please see the attached schedule. We would love to see you take this on and compete officially for the club in one of the leagues over the summer (the availability poll will be out soon) and remember, we have Super Saturday coming up on the 23rd March, which is another
Scottishathletics National Indoor Champs
Two of Harmeny’s junior athletes came away with Gold medals at the National Indoor Champs at Grangemouth Luke finished first in the boys U13 60m hurdles Cadha took home gold in the U13 girls long jump There were impressive performances by all our competing athletes today. Well done to everyone.

Podium finishes for our U15 girls and under 17 boys teams at the National XC Championships under 15 girls missed out on gold by a single point highlighting that every place counts in XC. under 17 boys finishing strong after an excellent season. Lots of amazing performances throughout the day by all our athletes. Well done Harmeny ❤️
East District Cross Country League Final Race
Bathgate, 27th January 24 The final race of the much anticipated 3-race East District League in Bathgate concluded with the sun shining overhead. The u13 girls team secured first place winning the Lothian Quaich and the u17 men won the GK Aithie Shield both with a great team performances. The masters women's category was especially exciting and in the end the masters women secured an impressive second-place finish, marking one of their best standings in recent memory. Future Stars!
Many thanks to those who joined us for our first Future Stars event. Well done to those 53 future stars who brought their smiles, enthusiasm and determination on a dark and cold November night. You inspire us. A particular thanks to the coaches, older athletes and parents who registered, organised, ordered, started, measured, timed, recorded, raked, photographed and cheered. There was even one who stepped up to the line to make numbers in a race. You are all stars also.

As we did last year, HAC will be holding an ‘Open Week’ in October. ********************************************* World Mental Health Day 2023 The World Health Organisation recognises World Mental Health Day on 10 October each year. The theme of 2023's World Mental Health Day, set by the World Federation for Mental Health, was 'Mental health is a universal human right'. For over 70 years, the Foundation has been working to make sure that mental health is treated equally with physical health. There are many studies which have shown that doing physical activity can improve mental health. For example, it can help with: better sleep – by making you feel more tired at the end of the day. happier moods – physical activity releases feel-good hormones that make you feel better in yourself and give you more energy. This year's Club Champs will take place 9am to 1pm on Saturday 16th September at Saughton. It is hope that everyone in the club will take part, especially those in the younger age groups. There will be a 100m sprint (80m for under 9s), shot putt, long jump and 800m (600m for under 9s) and everyone is encouraged to take part in all events.
