Craig StewartUK Athletics Level 3 Coach
Craig Stewart has been involved with Harmeny AC since 2011. He started coaching in 2012 and was awarded his Coaching Assistant award in October of that year. In May of 2015 he passed his UK Athletics Coach course. Craig was a talented junior runner, but only recently started running again running his first marathon a week after his 40th birthday and regularly represents Harmeny at local cross country events.
Andy Ross
Andy RossUKA Level 3 Coach
Andy joined Harmeny in 2015 after a spell competing in multi-sport events. A keen runner himself you will see him cheering on kids and competing in cross country events over the winter, describing it as ’’the best day out ever’’.
Andy coaches endurance and middle distance and team manages for cross country and track & field events throughout the year.
Graeme Stewart
Graeme StewartUK Athletics Level 3 Coach
Graeme’s a level 3 Athletics coach. He is our the Club Development Officer. He coaches a large number of Active Schools sessions around SW Edinburgh and West Lothian. He’s completed ultras up to the Great Glen at 73 miles, but still aims to get the WHW feather in his cap.
Allan Hardie
Allan HardieUK athletics Level 2 Coach
Allan is a level 2 coach in Endurance and is currently working towards level 3. He has always been interested in wide range of endurance events and has cycled Lands End to John o’groats, completed several long distance triathlons and run numerous marathons and ultramarathons. Allan coaches our younger boys endurance groups
Derek Johnston
Derek JohnstonUK Athletics Level 3 Coach
Derek’s first venture into coaching was as a Level 2 Triathlon coach in the dim and distant past and when his oldest child joined Harmeny in 2010, it was no surprise he joined the coaching team soon after that. Achieved his Athletics Coach/Level 2 award in 2012 then Level 3 Event group (jumps) award in 2013. Derek likes to coach all events but combined events and high jump are his special interests. Only running he does these days is with his dog! Outside of athletics, a complete guitar geek!
Kevin Kealy
Kevin KealyUK athletics Level 2 Coach
I joined Harmeny nearly 2 years ago as a parent helper. My background is originally in athletics competing as a junior in 400m ,800m and 1500m for Clonliffe Harriers. I have been coaching Pentland junior triathlon club for over 6 years and I’ve been a level 2 Triathlon coach for nearly 17 years . I recently gained my level 2 athletics coach award through Harmeny and Scottish athletics. I have a special interest in strength and conditioning with a view to improving athlete resilience and performance.
Ian Beattie
Ian BeattieRunning Fitness Coach
Ian started running 30 years ago and in that time has completed more than 100 marathons / ultra-marathons and more than 100 half marathons. Over the years he has lived in various parts of Scotland and was a member of Troon Tortoises, Central AC, Strathearn Harriers and Portobello prior to joining Harmeny. He is the Chairman of Scottish Athletics, a post he has held since 2012, and sits on the Members’ Council of UK Athletics. He has been the Race Director of the West Highland Way Race since 2010, a race he has completed 8 times. Ian qualified as a Coach in Running Fitness in 2018. He leads a senior training group on a Tuesday evening in the centre of Edinburgh, and coaches a number of senior endurance runners.
Darren Cavaroli
Darren CavaroliRunning Fitness Coach
Darren has been running with Harmeny AC since 2007. He completed his first marathon in 2007 and regularly competes with a number of top 10 finishes and age group podium finishes to his name. He has also won a Park Run event and competes for the club in district and national cross country events. He has completed his Jog Leaders course in 2009 and his UKA Coach in Running Fitness (CIRF) which focuses on distance running.
Allan Smith
Allan SmithUK athletics Level 2 Coach
Allan is a retired professional athlete spanning an 8-year career. With a personal best of 2.29m for the high jump, he has been coached by the UK’s finest coaches from British Athletics, Scottish Athletics and Sport Scotland. Beginning his coaching career in 2017, Allan is a specialist in all things speed and power. With a diverse knowledge of all athletics events, you will find Allan coaching within the RJT program all the way to senior athletes. Currently a level 2 athletics coach with a BSc in Sport & Exercise Science and qualified level 3 personal trainer, Allan has a vast knowledge of Strength and conditioning and nutrition.
Lorraine Boyd
Lorraine BoydUK Athletics Level 3 Coach
Lorraine ran for Whitemoss AAC during her teenage years, competing in all events. She later took part in several Heptathlon competitions. Moved to Edinburgh in 2009 to study Sport and Exercise Science. Lorraine has her Level 3 Athletics coach qualification and has been coaching for 3 years. She is is also getting back into her personal running.
Nicky Freedman
Nicky FreedmanLevel 3 UK Athletics Coach, Level 3 Personal Trainer, Level 2 British Triathlon Coach
Nicky has been running with Harmeny AC since 2009 and loves all types of running. To date she has completed 18 marathons (Boston, New York, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, London, Edinburgh to name a few!) and she is also a keen triathlete previously completing Ironman Wales.
She also coaches core & strength for Pentland Triathletes and is a qualified personal trainer.
